Manipulating Images!

This Blog marks my final project for my image manipulation class with Khara. Was it a fun class? Yes! And now, this is the part were i start showing off all the awesome projects i did in this class:

Ransome Note
starting with this one. Our first assignment. Creating a ransome note in Photoshop. Very easy (well it was assignment 1)

I had to sacrifice a lovely sheet of perfectly good paper but it was worth it. With this one, I decided to go with something funny and twisted in regards to the actual message in the not. I see now what my brain allows me to spit out into photoshop. And now the whole class knows! haha!

Making it was very easy and really didn't take that long. I only placed each text in its own layer and traces around them with a lasso tool. From there I filled it in with many colors, giving it a construction paper fill to it.

Our next project was making iPod Ads. We all remember those commercials with the silhouttes

dancing to daft punk music.

This one was signifigantly fun to do (and also easy) for this assignment, i used a photograph of a buddy of mine. I couldn't dsecide between two photos i liked so i ended up doing two. The red one on the right was the first one i did. I liked it because it was a ridiculous pose he did and i just had to do it. However, to me, it didnt look like he was dancing, so I wanted to do another one. The second one i did (where it actually looked like he was dancing) came out great. I ended up turning in the blue one on the left. The red one, i didn't turn in until now.

Or third assignment, i believe (honestly i kinda lost track) was the graffiti stencil. This one was interesting to put together and not as difficult as you would think. I used a Photograph i originally

Stencil Art

used for my iPod ad assignment. This is the photo that i didn't turn in. Turned out i had another use for it =)

The Pose was perfect for a graffiti stencil. I'm really impressed with how this one came out. It actually looked like a stencil sprayed on a wall.

The next Assignment was the cross hatching assignment. Another interesting thing to put together. Lots of layer stacking here and there.

Crosshatched Art

Though I've learned that working with

actual photographs gives us a better result than working with a strawing. (especially if it's a drawing i did.) But I still went with the flow on this one. The drawing i did had some problems and i couldnt get off a cross hatch effect due to the flatness. Everyone says they can see it but I cant see it that clearly. As for The photo, I got a better effect off because it was a photograph. Overall They were still fun to put together. I see myself doing this exercise alot in the future.

Outline Canvas Art

This next one is one of my favorites. I love how this one came out. This assignment was an Outline and water colors effect. I did another one with a drawing i had already did. At the end I got a story book effect. It's so cute, I love this one. Its at the top of my favorites.

The next one was for Metal Letterig and Paper cut out imaging. Now one was easier than the other and that would be the metal lettering. It was over in about 3-5 steps. However i did play around with it a bit. I added a reddish tint to give off a bit of a bloody effect. According to Khara "It's a little scary."

Paper Cut Out

Metal Type

The Paper cut outs weren't so much as hard but much more time consuming. Mainly because it was heavy use of the lasso tool. Percission is difficult while using that (even with a tablet) but that's what the polygon lasso is for! In this picture, I used an image of Blair the Pumpkin witch from the anime series "Soul Eater." I wanted to use her mainly because she's one of my favorite characters from the show. I love how this one came out in the final piece. I love the transparency in her hair and the spiral bangs and I'm especially proud of how the face came to be.

The next assignment was the George Seurat and Glass lettering. The Seurat image was easier than it looked. I used an image of someone cosplaying as C.C, a character from the anime series "Code Geass." This particular assignment ended a bit early for me so I immediately began the
glass lettering. I decided to combine the two being that what I typed wasn't much at all (same as the metal lettering.) This was a relatively well put together project. I love the end result.

Seurat and Glass Letter

Next on the list would be Cezanne inspired images and the photo retouches.

Cezanne Images (Blazblue)

Now I did and didn't have that much fun with this one because, well, I had to use a photo of myself. (which i dont like) The Phot retouches however (and thankfully) didnt take that long. However the other half, the cezanne images, I did have fun with! In those images, I used characters from the "Blazblue" videogame series. They worked really well with this project. The end result was amazing.

Photo Retouch

Next is the Roy Litchenstien images. Again I used an anime character for this one. This time I used Yoko from the "Gurren Lagann" series. The comic book style worked great for the art
style of this character. I managed to make an already poppy art even more poppier (that's probably not a word. It was fun to put together but because of the size of the image, the dots are bigger than they should be. However I did like the friendly mistake. This image is one of my favorites I did. And also, just because, I added a gag text, which is a catch phrase, me and my friends used to say all the time back in highschool.

Roy Litchenstien (Yoko)

The next assignment, well, is this blog assignment right here. Never made a blog before so I'm new to this whole thing. I really hope i did it right. Oh and also, last week Khara suggested we combine 3 techniques into one image. And thus I came up with this. Combining Seurat, Glass effect, and outlining.

And That's mah blog!!
